What to See at Terreiro da Luta

The 5-meter statue of Our Lady of Peace was made from anchor chains of ships sunk by German U-boats during WWI. Beautiful landscaped gardens surround the monument. Panoramic viewpoint over Funchal, the airport, and the Desertas Islands. This is also the upper terminal of the Monte-Funchal cable car for an alternative descent.
