Madeira hikes by bus: what public transport really reaches
A bus to the area is not always a bus to the trailhead. Start with the access tier, then verify the exact trip.
The useful short answer
PR8 has a verified regular SIGA route to its named trailhead. Ribeiro Frio is served only by selected trips, which can work for PR11 and the start of PR10. The other walks need a separately verified onward plan or an official operator option.

These tiers describe regular SIGA access to the official trail start, not whether a trail is currently available.

PR1 and PR1.2 are different walks
PR1 starts at Pico do Areeiro. PR1.2 starts at Achada do Teixeira. A transfer advertised for Pico Ruivo via Achada do Teixeira is not transport to the PR1 start.
Check live conditions before leaving
Trail access, reservations, road conditions and bus operations can change. Check the official trail hub and the exact SIGA timetable on the day, leave enough daylight, and do not begin without a workable return.

Official trail endpoints come from Visit Madeira / IFCN. Regular route claims come from SIGA. Absence of a verified SIGA trailhead connection is presented as a planning gap, not proof that no transport option exists.
